Sarah Brown, DNP, CNM, WHNP - Educator & Birth Assistant
Sarah Brown (she/her) is a Certified Nurse Midwife & Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner who is part of the birth center team as a birth assistant and educator. She is passionate about supporting folks through trauma-informed care, and values health equity and physiologic birth. Sarah believes in creating a safe space through empowerment & shared decision making.
Sarah spent two years in Mexico after nursing school to volunteer as a nurse with Operation Smile and complete a Spanish language program. From there she returned to the states and began her nursing career in pediatrics at Lurie Children’s hospital in Chicago. Always having a desire to be within the birth-work setting, she transitioned to labor and delivery in the hospital for a couple years before ultimately moving to community birth at Burr Ridge. During her time at the birth center she began and completed her Doctorate in Nursing at University of Illinois at Chicago, obtaining her CNM & WHNP certifications.
Sarah is currently learning more about functional (holistic/natural based) medicine and how the interconnected body systems influence reproductive health, labor, birth, & postpartum.
When Sarah is not nerding-out on birth work, she can be found enjoying a hot cup of tea, being a foodie, paddle boarding, listening to podcasts, & spending time with her husband Jake & their 8 year old rescue Great Dane named Star.
