Grace Sells, MSN, CNM - Midwife

Grace (she/her) is a Certified Nurse Midwife who is passionate about providing holistic, evidence-based reproductive healthcare. Grace was first introduced to midwifery while studying women’s history as an undergraduate. She quickly became enamored with the midwifery model of care, which not only honored the autonomy of birthing individuals, but also produced excellent outcomes for families. She studied the ways the medical system had historically harmed and ignored women, and committed herself to being part of the solution.

Grace graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in 2023. In midwifery school, she gained both birth center and hospital experience. She appreciated the birth center’s capacity for peaceful, family-centered births, and was excited to join the Burr Ridge Birth Center team after graduation. Grace believes it is empowering to learn about one’s own body, and loves opportunities to discuss physiology with clients. The cornerstone of Grace’s practice is informed consent; she strives to ensure that clients are actively involved in their own healthcare decisions.

Grace grew up in Northern California. She has also lived in Pittsburgh, Nashville, and is happy to be a new transplant in Chicago. She lives with her partner and cat in Lincoln Park. Grace enjoys doing arts and crafts, playing team sports, and listening to podcasts.
