Empowered Birth
Our hybrid in-person and virtual childbirth education workshop is where expanding families learn the essential elements of creating a mindful embodied birth and postpartum experience.
Participants will be guided through key 3rd trimester preparations to positively influence labor as well as the stages of physiological birth and the fundamental elements of healing thereafter.
Families will learn how to create a cohesive birth team, a supportive birth environment, and nurturing postpartum routines.
Breath, movement, affirmations, visualizations, and relaxation techniques that help reduce pain, anxiety, and overwhelm will be practiced and discussed in depth. And, holistic supports like herbs, food, essential oils, and basic massage will be explored.
The ideal learner for this class gains understanding by “doing” and enjoys hands-on interactive experiences that engage all 5-senses. They value bodily autonomy, trauma-informed care, and consent. They yearn to personalize their birth experience by identifying their own unique needs and are open to learning new tips, tricks, and techniques that will support those needs.
The workshop meets twice, once virtually over Zoom and once in person at the Burr Ridge Birth Center.
When meeting in person, all participants should wear comfortable clothes they can move in, and bring a yoga mat and pillow (one per couple).
Registration includes a birth giver and one birth partner. A maximum of 6 couplets will be in attendance.
Experienced and first-time birth givers (preferably) in their second or third trimester are welcome!
This class fulfills the comprehensive childbirth education requirement for first-time parents at BRBC.
